Steve was one of my favorite Master Garden Volunteers. I loved his days on the Gardening Helpline, always joking with his fellow MGs. I can still hear that voice! Condolences to the whole family.

Please accept my sincere condolences as part of the Class of 1985 at Edison Tech High School. He was a very special man that cared deeply about the students at Edison. We loved his accent, humor, stories, and advice. He was fast , too. I used to watch him chase kids down the hall and catch them.
Rest in peace, Mr. Lambert.

I want to express my sincere condolences to Steve’s family. I met Steve as part of the Osher Classes where there was an opportunity to express opinions about the events occurring throughout the world. Steve was always one of the most informed members of the class, and never afraid to express his opinion, even though. he knew it would not always be popular. Regardless of one’s point of view It was clear as you listen to Steve, that after his family, he cared very deeply about this country and its people.
He and I would often talk privately outside of class. I enjoyed those conversations and his friendship. He was a good decent man and a great American. I will miss him.

Steve was a very helpful suppport for the ETH class of '48, when we wer trying to "drum up" a class reunion for our 10th anniversary. in 1958. Due to his help we were successful and continued for many years, merging wiith the class of '47as attrition reduced our numbers. Our combined class group met as recently as 2023, prorbably our last.
Thank you, Steve RIP.

I recall Mr. Lambert from my math classes at Madison High School in the early 1960s. Math was always a challenge for me, but Mr. Lambert had the ability to explain difficult concepts in a way that was not only understandable but enjoyable. He made learning fun. I still make use of some of the techniques I learned from him. He was truly an outstanding teacher. May he rest in peace.

Once in a while, you come across someone who leaves a lasting first impression on you. Stephen was one such person. Though we were fortunate to have met him on just 2 occasions, the warmth, pleasing personality, the smile makes one wish to emulate much of his qualities. Made us feel comfortable to be around him right away.
Sincere condolences to the family.

I met Steve this past fall when we both took the same class at Osher. He was very knowledgeable and admirably stood by his convictions. I just learned that I also share a birthday with Steve. I will miss him! Thinking of his family and friends at this time of loss.

One of the greatest men I’ve ever met! Knew him since I was 13. Ran from him in high school, gravitated toward him ever after. Will always cherish knowing him, and always enjoyed his stories, even the 3rd time lol.
The best mentor, Father, Grandfather. A life to be proud of. I will always keep learning because of him.
He’s definitely one I’ll see again…

I saw the name and immediately flashed back to my high school days in Fairport in the late 60's. Mr. Lambert was there for maybe a semester and me having been a smart ass in school we had a few run ins.
Flash forward about 5 years and I'm driving my very used car to work at Kodak. As a young parent I was living hand to mouth which also meant paycheck to paycheck (especially for gas). It was payday and I was hoping to make it to work and then fill up.
I'm on 490W and sure enough, I run out if gas with no money and no credit card.
I start hitchhiking and a car pulls over. I get in and a gentleman asks me what happened and I tell him. He asks where I live. Fairport I said. He then tells me he was the assistant principal there a few years before. The lights went off in my head and I told him I remembered him. Asked my name and he remembered me (probably for the wrong reasons).
We talked while he dropped me off at a gas station and he told me he was at one of the city schools. He proceeded to give me $5 for gas and, when I asked where I could return it to him, he said "don't worry" and drove off.
I haven't seen him since but the memory of his act of kindness lives with me.
My condolences to the family and may Mr Lambert rest in peace.
