When John and Mary Wowkowych were reunited in America after having left Ukraine separately in the aftermath of World War I, they could not have known the number of lives they would touch through their three children. Now nearly a century later, they are rejoined in Heaven. And the angels must see the joy in their hearts to have and hold those they loved that awaited their arrival. Each of us has felt this love for many generations. Aunt Monu always was there, always taking the time to hold us and help us to feel loved, just as we were. In her home, we felt warmth, always feeding us, always laughing, and always so very proud of her Ukrainian heritage. She spoke gently and sweetly of her sister, brother and parents in our 2000 celebration of 80 years in America.
And we know she will be waiting to greet us someday when the Lord calls us home.

Dearest Aunt Monu, others call you Melanie but, to me, you will always be, Monu, the familiar Ukrainian name - my Aunt Monu, for I have been a part of your life for all of my life; there was never a time without you, so much to think about and remember from Dover Street to Brower Road to Oakdale Drive to Williamson, the memories are clear and joyful, so many Easter celebrations with the Heberle kids, the Wowkowych kids and the Ruoff kids, but, above all, there was always Monu watching over all of us, growing up with us, always with that pretty smile and soft voice, you have been such a gift to all of us; my wife and children adore you and your children. Though we shall miss you terribly, we hold you dear in our hearts, I shall love you forever, your loving nephew, Bumper.
