Obituary of Doris Laubscher

Webster:  Doris Laubscher, 100 years young, passed away on December 30th, 2022 in the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  In true Doris fashion, she was making wise-cracks up until the end.  Doris was born on October 19, 1922 in Rochester, NY. During World War II, Doris worked at Delco, and later spent 35 years at Empire State Weeklies/The Webster Herald, retiring at 75 years old.  She was also a founding member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Webster.  Doris always enjoyed card games, traveling, eating chocolate, and spending time with family and friends.  Up until a few years ago she was still actively going to the Bayview YMCA, doing yardwork, driving, baking, and visiting with friends.  Everywhere she went people told her she didn’t look her age and asked her what her secret was. Over the years the answer changed, but it was probably all of the chocolate.

Doris, a long-time Webster resident, was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward; son, David; granddaughter, Michelle; two sisters, Jeanette Baker and Eleanor Bolt.  She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Greg) Gula; grandchildren, Laurise (Joe) Beckelhymer, Carla Capizzi, Sara (Buzz) Gallipo-Sammis, Stacey (Mark) Ahrens; siblings, Don Bolt, Bill Bolt and Marge Perrin; daughters-in-law, Kathy Laubscher and Pam Regan; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.  The beloved family matriarch will be missed by many.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, January 5th at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave, Webster.  A burial service for family will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lollypop Farm.
