Obituary of Betty Lou Iamaio
Webster: March 3rd, 1947- December 15th, 2020. Dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, flew home to be with Jesus on December 15th, 2020 after a battle with Parkinson’s Dementia, and COVID.
Wife of almost 50 years to husband John J Iamaio; mother of John (Laura) Iamaio, and Stephanie (Brian) Donovan; and wonderful “Granny” to grandchildren: Melody, Logan, Eva, and Jadon Maus and Hayden and Hannah Iamaio. Also cherished by other family members, brother, Joel (Pat) Stewart; twin sister, Frances (Thurman) Lowry. Betty is predeceased by her mother, Gladys Stewart; father, Willie Lee Stewart; and brother Tony Stewart.
Betty grew up in Greensboro, NC, and met and married her husband John at Piedmont Bible College in Winston Salem, NC. She majored in education and later obtained her nursing degree, lovingly doing hospice for Genesee Region Home Care. Betty firmly believed her purpose on earth was to care for people and she did that in a variety of ways. Whether nursing, elder care, caring for grandchildren, ministering as pastor’s wife to her church community, or praying over the needs of others, Betty felt most alive serving sacrificially to care in a tender way for others. Her laughter, sweet spirit, prayers, and “witty” comebacks will be just a few of the things those that know her best will miss.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to Pittsford Community Church benevolence fund/ in memory of Betty Iamaio, 421 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534.
