I met Jim about 15 years ago when I began volunteering with Cyphas. He was a great mentor; his comments in group were always thoughtful, made lovingly, but honest, direct and to the point. He was able to draw on his own life experience without condicention. Later, outside of Cephas, Jim introduced me socially to match point bridge and welcomed and encouraged me as his partner. I have continued to enjoy that game with new partners here in Indiana, since moving here three years ago. I think of Jim often; he did a lot of good in his life. I was impressed with how he faced his physical challenges with great courage. He will always be on my list of hero’s.

My brother, Jim, made the whole world his family. He might meet a fellow jogger in Central Park and soon have him as a perennial visitor to his home. He brought experience, strength and hope wherever he went and was a born organizer from bowling leagues to bridge leagues. He lived fully and positively and according to his strong spirit until the very last moment. I miss him.

I have many wonderful memories of my Uncle Jim. I always loved visiting him and my cousins in Rochester, and as I got older he was a great support to me and my family in many circumstances. I will miss him terribly, and I am so grateful he was my Uncle.
