Obituary of Robert Turner Ealy

Webster:  Age 88, died unexpectedly November 3, 2017. The youngest of six children, Bob was born in Utica, NY, to the late Helen (Walsh) and Thomas Vincent Ealy. He’s survived by his wife of 61 years, Adelaide (Hopkins), and five children: Julie Trump (Geoffrey), David Hopkins Ealy (Pattie), Thomas Vincent Ealy (Linda), Mary Virginia Ealy, and Sheila Gentry. He leaves behind seven grandchildren: Shannon, Christine (Nick Pucillo) and Justin Ealy, Aaron Ealy, Sean and Julia Gentry, and Theo Trump, and one sister, Eleanor Agnes Ealy, of Syracuse, NY, where Bob grew up, went to Most Holy Rosary High School and graduated LeMoyne College in 1951. Before he was able to complete his graduate thesis in International Relations at Georgetown University, the Army drafted him during the Korean Conflict. Later on, he received an M.B.A. from RIT. Bob moved his family to Rochester, NY, to take a job at Champion Products in 1965, and finished his management career at Optical Gaging Products (OGP).   What’s best remembered about him is Bob was revered by many in the local running community for his competing in 5k and 6k races most every weekend well into his 80s, often winning his age group…running the Marine Corps Marathon at one point. He was an avid reader, collector and cataloger. Most recently time pieces, the walls filled with “found” clocks he made to work again.
