Obituary of Amelia Kress
Amelia was born January 27, 1913 in Buffalo, New York of immigrant parents from Poland. She was the oldest of three daughters from her mother Stella's second marriage to Frank Lendziozek.
Her parents moved to Rochester, New York opening a grocery store which is where Amelia quit school at a young age to work helping her parents. She cleaned houses and later found work at a button factory in this garment city.
In 1930 she met Chester Kress (Koresko) at a roller rink and married him in 1935. She became the mother of three and enjoyed being a housewife. After her children were grown, she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, until a few years after his death in 1970.
She moved to California in 1974 to live closer to her daughter and a warmer climate. She was a very fun, likeable lady, who enjoyed her family and crocheting, making over a hundred afghans for family and friends.
Amelia is preceded into paradise by her sister, Wanda (Viola) Sapere, Frances Harvick, and five half siblings; brothers Edward, Benedict, and Chester Czyzewski and sisters Anna Pulvino and Florence Miloz.
She is survived by her sons Robert (Carol) Kress of Rochester, New York, Glenn (Barbara) Kress of Reno, Nevada, and daughter Lorraine (Terry) Corliss of Chino Hills, California.
Seven grandchildren; Eric (Betty Jo) Kress, Janet Dodge, Robert T. (Erika) Kress, Jeffrey (Dee) Kress, Rhonda Kress, Glenn Jr (Melissa) Kress, and Scott (Kelly) Corliss.
Thirteen great-grandchildren; Eric Jr (Natalie) Kress, Daniel, David, and Randall Dodge, Joshua, Bradley, Joseph, Johnathan, Jordan, and Cassidy Kress, Justin, Nicole, and Sean Corliss.
Two great-great grandchildren; Kylie and Gavin Kress. Many nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Church, 1355 Hatch Road, Webster, at 10 AM Saturday, June 24th. Her ashes will be laid to rest at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be directed to Holy Spirit Church.
