Obituary of Gualtiero Faustoferri
Penfield: April 25, 2017, peacefully following a short, but bravely fought illness.
Born October 11, 1928 in Lucito, Campobasso, Italy to Amedeo and Amalia Faustoferri, 1 of 6 children, Gualtiero grew up around power generation. He worked and volunteered throughout Europe. This also enabled him to compete in many cycling competitions, including the Tour of Italy and the Tour de France.
After completing his education in electrical, mechanical, and hydroelectric power engineering, he came to Schenectady NY in 1955 to explore career opportunities in the US, where he met his bride, Gioconda (Jackie) (Mautone) and they wed in 1956 and settled in Amsterdam NY, where their daughter Roberta was born.
The family moved to Rochester in 1969, when he accepted a position at Farrel Corporation, where his expertise in machine tool engineering took him worldwide. A year later, their family became complete with the birth of their son Mark. Gualtiero joined Rochester Gas & Electric at their Ginna Station in 1982, where he added nuclear engineering to his encyclopedic knowledge. He retired from his job but never stopped working, sharing his expertise, advice, and numerous tools, to help anyone who needed him.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60+ years, Jackie and his devoted children, Roberta and Mark. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Dominic and Vincenzo (Diane Hall) Mautone and their respective families. He was a surrogate "Dad" and "Poppa" to many, who will miss him dearly.
Calling hours will be 6 – 8 PM Friday at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd., Penfield. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his name to American Diabetes Assoc., Attn: Tour-de-Cure, 160 Allen Creek Dr., Rochester, NY 14618.
