Obituary of H. Stewart Coon

Webster: Wednesday March 8, 2017 passed away at the age of 97 yrs. & 8 mos. Predeceased by his wife, Veronica Cody Coon in 2003. Stewart is survived by his sons, Charles (Maureen), James S. (Joan) and Gary (Devon); 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
A WWII Veteran of the US Army and 50 yr. member of American Legion Cottreall Warner Post # 942. Stewart started a career in television at its infancy with WHAM-TV in 1949. During his career in television he was a cameraman, control room technician and a news photographer. He retired in 1981 from WHEC-TV, Channel 10, as a producer/director where he produced news casts, Eddie Meath morning Show, Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon and several documentaries.
A loving husband, father & grandfather who enjoyed life & his family.
In retirement Stewart’s interests included photography, boating & fishing, amateur radio as a member of RARA and car trips to Florida & other parts of the US.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 Monday at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM Tues. at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Rd., Webster. Interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Because of his good experience with Honor Flight of Rochester, memorials may be directed to the Honor Flight of Rochester PO Box 23581, Rochester, NY 14692.
