Obituary of Karen Lovecchio
Webster: Saturday, August 31, 2024, age 82. Karen is survived by her husband, Frank; children, Katherine (Will), Robert (Kenda) and Steven (Wendy); grandchildren, Benjamin, Mia and Kai, siblings David (Lisa) Korhummel and Debra (Gary) Cacace.
Karen received her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at Syracuse University in 1969. She met her future husband Frank while they were both graduate students there. She was employed by Chemical Abstracts Corporation in Columbus Ohio from 1970-1973. She then joined Eastman Kodak and assumed management positions in Development and Manufacturing divisions of the company. She was part of a select team designed to improve the efficiency and quality of industrial efforts worldwide. These assignments involved trips to Australia, England, and various U.S. locations.
In retirement, Karen remained active, working as a volunteer at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester Museum and Science Center, and the Webster Public Library. Leisure travel took her and her husband to Europe, South America, Hawaii, Florida, the Western United States and Canada.
Her favorite activities included hiking in the Southwestern deserts and in the more mountainous terrain of the Pacific Northwest. She stayed active in later years, enjoying the warmth of Florida and South Carolina with good friends, and walking on many scenic beaches there. Karen was a yoga and cross-country ski enthusiast, and a life-saver swimmer.
A wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, Karen always looked forward to interacting with her children and their families on many occasions. Humble and sweet, she was an inspiration to all those she came in contact with. As best friend to her husband, she added an immense depth and richness to their life together. She will be sorely missed.
