Obituary of Rev. Charles J. Latus

     Webster: August 23, 2024, age 82. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Marie Latus; brother, William Latus; brother-in-law, Henry Grandpre. He leaves his siblings, Mary Grandpre, Jerry (Alice) Latus and Ellen (Barry) Buffan.  Also survived by his nieces and nephews: Cathy (Chet) Pinski, Jeffrey Latus, Joyce (Eric) Lee, Christopher (Sue) Grandpre, Susan (Thomas) Krebs, Brian (Kathy) Buffan, Julie (Christopher) Wortmann, Matthew (Maddie) Buffan and several great nieces and nephews.

 

     Fr. Chuck was ordained by Bishop Fulton Sheen on June 1,1968.  He served as assistant pastor at Blessed Sacrament parish,  co-pastor at Our Lady of Mercy parish  and pastor at St Catherine of Siena in Mendon and St. Rita’s in Webster.  He also served as Administrative Assistant to Bishop Joseph Hogan and Bishop Matthew Clark.

 

     Friends are invited to calling hours 5-7 PM Thursday, August 29, in the Chapel at Cherry Ridge, 900 Cherry Ridge Blvd., Webster, followed by a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 PM.  Further visitation will be held 10-11 AM Friday, August 30, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 534 Oxford St., Rochester, where his Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery to follow Mass. To Livestream the Mass, please click HERE.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of choice.
