RIP Ronny. The Army family pours one out for you tonight.
I know that you have slipped away into everlasting peace, but I hope your family knows the whole Army, the whole veteran community, grieves when we lose another one of our own far too soon.
I didn't know you well, but I've known your sister many years, and I remember meeting you in Seattle when you both were here. I remember when she told me you joined, I remember her telling me about the knee pain of airborne school, and how proud you and her both were when you went to the 82nd.
I also know what it's like to to join when you are older, and I see your buddies call you the "old man". Most won't ever understand the inherent burden of taking care of the younger joes, regardless of rank, when you come in a little older, having seen a little more of life, having experienced a little more struggle, if not any wiser.
Tonight, me and my small cricle of military community pour one out for you, Ronny. To your family, I'm so sorry for your unimagineable loss.
Unfortunately most of us know losing a battle buddy too well, and I'm so sorry your family and your friends in and out of the service have to feel it now, for many, again.
Cheers, Ronny.

I'm going to miss Ronny very much and my thoughts are with all those who have had Ron in their life. For my part, Ron was a great friend, teammate and brother and I will forever remember him as that.
I'm terrible at staying properly connected to friends and family; my relationship with Ron was no different. I haven't spoken to him since we graduated from High School, but he will always be in my thoughts for all the good times we had. Knowing that we never reconnected, is a burden I will have to live with and learn from.
My memory of Ron begins in about 2001 on the 7th grade boys soccer team. From then on we spent countless hours during soccer, track and field, as well as within school in many of the same classes; most notably as lab partners in 8th grade Earth Science where his odd sense of humor jived with mine and we became very quick, close friends.
Throughout our time at practices, weight room sessions, track meets, soccer games and in the class our friendship grew into one of the few true friendships I had during that period of my life. I remember most vividly how Ron's sense of humor would often have me struggling to breath from laughter even in the most tense and stressful situations. Anyone who is part of a tight sports team that's been together a long time will attest to the fact that your teammates become like brothers, and I very much feel that Ron was my brother; if only for 6 short years or so.
Love and miss you Ronny. Your friend,
Kevin Campbell

I was deployed with Ron back in 2019-2020. He was dependable, disciplined, and hilarious. Even in stressful scenarios I know I could count on him to execute and find the silver lining in everything. Me and the boys are going to miss the old man!

Ronnie was one of the kindest, well mannered boys that my sons grew up with. He was always smiling and so family oriented. We used to have a family gathering with the Rafferty’s making apple pies for the year. The whole family was amazing and each of their children showed so much respect and kindness. Ronnie, your smile will never be forgotten. God Bless you and your family.
