Obituary of Janet "Jan" Burdick
Webster: Jan passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the age of 80. Predeceased by her husband, Robert. She’s survived by her daughter, Stacey (Santiago); son, Mike (Carrie); grandchildren, Isabella and Robert; and a wonderful group of extended family and friends.
After starting out in Saddle Brook, NJ, Jan and husband Bob journeyed to Rochester, first to Greenleaf Meadows Apartments and then to their first house on Chimney Hill Road in Greece, before building a home on Hightower Way in 1978 to live the rest of their life in Webster.
In addition to her family and close friends, Jan was absolutely in love with music. She enjoyed singing at Saint Charles Church in Greece, as well as in the Greece Choral Society and the Treble Clefs. This adventure even allowed her the privilege of performing in a special concert in Carnegie Hall in NYC. Though very proud of that, she was perhaps never more honored then then when she was invited to sing at the wedding or funeral of a loved one.
In her youth, Jan attended Cazenovia College and Onondaga Community College and became a dental hygienist. After taking a break to get her kids through their younger years, she returned to work for Dr. Suter and Dr. Levitt in Webster, NY before becoming a long-term floating sub for many years all over the Monroe and Wayne Counties until her retirement.
Jan’s smile could, and often did, light up a room. Her laugh was powerful and infectious, her personality big, and her warmth and genuine care for everyone around her made the world a better place.
Calling hours will be 1-4 PM Sunday, July 14 at Willard H Scott Funeral Home 12 South Ave., Webster, where her Funeral Service will take place 10:00 AM Monday, July 15. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park, Pittsford following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Parkinson’s research at MichaelJFox.org
