Obituary of Beverly Harrison Rhodes

          Webster: Passed away June 26, 2024 at age 96. She was predeceased by her husband, William G. Rhodes, Jr. in 1986. She is survived by sons, William G. Rhodes, III (Lori), James C. Rhodes (Susan), and daughter Katharine Scott (Jay); 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Virginia King (William), niece and nephews, and many friends.

          Beverly was born August 29, 1927 in New Rochelle, NY and lived most of her life in Carmel, NY where she was active in Drew United Methodist Church and Thrift Shop and many other service organizations. She taught 2nd grade at Kent Primary School for many years. After moving to Webster in 1997, she became an active member of Webster United Methodist Church, The Women’s Club of Webster and Bay View Y.

          She received her Bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA and her Masters from New Paltz Teacher’s College.

          Beverly was devoted to her family, faith and friends and enjoyed crafts, knitting, scrapbooking, card making, bridge, gardening and reading. She also enjoyed sports, including cheering on the Buffalo Bills and Yankees, and watching tennis.

          Calling hours will be held at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster, NY on July 11, 2024 from 1-4 pm. Funeral will be held at Webster Methodist Church, 169 E. Main St., on July 12, 2024 at 11 am. Interment will be July 13, 2024 at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY.

          The family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home for their loving care over the past year and who became a second family to Beverly and her family.
