Obituary of Thomas Fuerst
Sarasota, FL, formerly of Webster: Passed away on November 5, 2023, age 78. He was born on May 15, 1945, in Rochester, NY. Tom was a tough and fierce individual, known for his sharp wit and mentorship. He was a proud member of the West Webster Fire Department and served on the City of Sarasota Police Complaint Advisory Board. Tom’s favorite phrase was “go big or go home”.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; daughter, Kate (Steve) Ralg; grandchildren, Jane and Ben; son, Timothy Harnett; many brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Marie Fuerst.
Tom attended McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, NY and later pursued higher education at Saint Michael’s College at the University of Toronto, where he received a B.A. degree. He was an active member of St. Martha Church, where he worshiped.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed various hobbies, including Photography, Seaward CrossFit, gardening, reading, and spending time with good friends over good food and wine.
There will be a Graveside Service for Tom 10:00 AM Saturday, June 8 at West Webster Cemetery, 1015 Maple Dr., Webster, followed by a gathering at the West Webster Fire Department Assoc. Bldg. behind the West Webster Fire Hall, 1051 Gravel Rd., Webster.
