Obituary of David Babcock
Webster: Wednesday, March 20, 2024, David R. Babcock passed away at Banner Desert Medical Center, in Mesa AZ. He was 87 years old. David Split his time between Mesa, AZ and Webster, NY. He retired as Director of the Elementary Science Program, BOCES 2, in Spencerport, NY.
David leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley [McCoy] Babcock; children, Christopher (Donna) Babcock, Katherine Babcock Machado; granddaughter, Shawna (Rob) Day-Halter; grandson, Scott Machado, Jr.; great-grandson, Brayden Day-Halter; Shirley’s children, Greg McCoy, Kelly (Scott) Collichio, Tim (Nancy) McCoy; six grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Babcock Hinz.
As director of ESP, David created and ran this program which supplied schools with science kits in bright yellow boxes, as well as instructing teachers across NYS about how us these kits.
David also served in the US Army from 1959-1965. He and Shirley enjoyed and taught Country Western dancing for many years in New York and Arizona. His interests and hobbies included fishing, photography, and playing various games like shuffleboard, pool, darts, and card games.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 15 at Webster United Church of Christ, 570 Klem Rd., Webster.
