Obituary of Craig Paul Modern
Webster: Tues., Feb. 27, 2024, age 56. Predeceased by his parents, Theodore “Ted” and Carol Ellsworth Modern. He leaves his sister, Donna (Bob) Scharding; niece, Quinn Scharding; god-sons, Ben Tompkins and Nicholas Thompson; many friends. Craig was a long-time Webster Men’s Lacrosse coach.
Craig worked for Gorbel Incorporated for over 15 years. Other places of employment included 84 Lumber, Apples Grocery (remember that?!), Rochester Redwings clubhouse, and security for various sports and concert venues, eating and drinking establishments. His greatest and most prized position was as a Lacrosse coach and mentor for most of his life, primarily at Webster Thomas High School, but also at the Brighton School District. Lacrosse was his greatest passion, as evidenced by his coveted position as an original season ticket holder of the Rochester Knighthawks Lacrosse team. Other passions included all sports in general, particularly for the young adults in his life. His favorite football teams were the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Minnesota Vikings. He loved to jab his friends in good fun, but supported all athletes regardless of team, in their endeavors.
He loved and supported music of the live-venue type, and had particular fun following the Dave Matthews Band.
In fairer weather times of year, Craig enjoyed Civil War re-enactment, where he served as soldier and officers, leaving as Captain of Moody’s Battery, Louisianna Light Artillery.

Friends may call 3-7 PM Thursday, March 7 at Willard H. Scott Funeral, 12 South Ave., Webster. Memorial Service 12:00 noon Friday, March 8 at All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd., Pittsford.
A Scholarship Fund has been created in Craig's honor to sponsor a Webster Thomas Men's Lacrosse player who exhibits the will to "try again". Memorials may be directed to:
