Over the past eight months, Mr. Gable invited me into his home many times for coffee and conversation. We talked about so many things, including history, sports, current events, his health, and our families. In this time, he gave me one of the best gifts anyone has ever given me; He taught me what it means to live and what it means to die. He allowed me the opportunity to walk with him on the last mile of his journey and for that I will forever be grateful. I lost a friend, but he will live on in my heart and memories.
