Obituary of Dennis Gent

Webster: 7/22/1941-7/13/2023, passed away peacefully from complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He is predeceased by his parents, John & Winifred Gent; brother, William; former wife, Barbara Stefano; great-grandson, Codey Sila; niece, Robin Carter; brother-in-law, Elmer Novy.

 

Denny retired from RG&E Ginna Plant in the late 90’s. He was very active in many choral groups, the Rochester Seinger Choir (joined and went to Germany with them at age 15), RG&E Chorus, Kodak Chorus, and UCC Webster Choir. He also enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels and Veteran’s Outreach.

 

Denny served on a Missile Site in Germany during the Vietnam War. He has always been devoted to his country, family, and friends. He was so excited to be able to join Honor Flight with his son, Christopher, in May 2022.

 

He is survived by his wife, Judi Stritzel Gent, children, Heidi (Greg) Lockwood, John Gent, Christopher (Diane) Gent; and their mother, Sheary Carr; stepchildren, Elizabeth (Kenny) Stefano-Jarusiritharangkul, Thomas (Sharon) Stefano, Christine Stefano, and Veronica (Bruce) Woodard. He is also survived by Judi’s sons, Kevin (Lisa) Smith, Jeffrey (Lisa) Smith, Scott Smith, Shawn (Trudi) Smith, Jamie (Laura) Smith; sister, Barbara Novy; nieces, Sharon Boss, Peggy Novy, Debbie Meguire, Jennifer Kirschenmann.

 

Denny’s 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren will sadly miss his loving smile.

 

Friends may call 4-7 PM, Monday, July 17, at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. Memorial Service 11:00AM Tuesday, July 18, at United Church of Christ, 570 Klem Rd., Webster. Memorials may be directed to Honor Flight or Alzheimer’s Association.
