My thoughts and prayers are with Carole, Don, and family. Betsy was a mentor and friend. I was blessed to teach 2nd grade with her at DeWitt. I learned so much from her during those early years in my career. She was a truly gifted teacher. Her love of working with children was always evident in the special connections she made with all of her students. I was also blessed to continue my friendship with Betsy outside of school and after her retirement through church. I treasure the many memories I have with Betsy. When I was pregnant and took a leave from work, Betsy invited me to be an honorary member of the retired teachers breakfast group. This group welcomed me and my son with open arms and it remains one of my favorite times from when I was a new mom. One of the best lessons I learned about prayer came from Betsy when we were in a small group together at church. We were talking about how we fall asleep while saying nighty prayers, something I struggled with and wished I could stay awake to finish. Betsy said, "I came to the conclusion that God doesn't mind. What better way to fall asleep than talking to God." Her advice and perspective on this are something I now live by. Rest in Peace, dear friend. Heidi

Sending condolences to Betsey’s family. She taught our four children in second grade at Ridgecrest school. In fact, after our oldest, Kelly, completed second grade, we requested that our three boys be in her second grade class. She was an awesome teacher.
In sympathy, MaryJean and Jack Yengo
