Obituary of Fern Poelma Pellett
Webster: Age 105, died February 13, 2023. The second youngest of eight children, she was born November 19, 1917, in East Gaines, N.Y. to Eppo and Angie (Vink) Poelma. After graduating from what was then the Brockport State Normal School, she began her career as an elementary school teacher at Kendall Central School before moving on to the Webster Central School District in 1941. She retired in 1973 after 30 years of teaching. Fern and her late husband of 53 years, Clayton Pellett, spent their retirement traveling abroad, wintering in Florida, and spending time with friends and family. Favorite past times included sewing, baking, and playing bridge. She played piano throughout her life and continued playing every week for fellow residents at the Fairport Baptist Home. Fern was a longtime member of the Webster United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her sons, William (Alma) Pellett of Williamson, and Robert (Anne) Pellett of Penfield; grandchildren, Joshua Pellett of Williamson, Ryan (Sarah) Pellett of Virginia, Roberta (David) Verdine of Ontario, and William Pellett, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren. Private interment will be at Webster Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will notify loved ones when a memorial service is scheduled.
