Obituary of Jane Hunter Parker

Webster:  Wed., February 8, 2023, age 96.  Survived by her husband of 73 years, Davis E. Parker; sons, Dr. Mark E. Parker (Sue Serdinak) and Stephen W. Parker; daughter, Sarah J. (Richard) Sultzer; grandchildren, Dr. Adam Parker, Dianna Parker, Jeffrey Parker (Stefanie Marsa), Davis Parker II, Maxwell Parker, Nolan Parker, Kendra Sultzer and Parker Sultzer; great-granddaughter, Ellie Parker; Exchange Students, Toshiaki Hosaka of Tokyo, Ralf Holmlund of Helsinki and Fusun Saygili of Izmir, Turkey.  She is predeceased by her parents, Warren Carpenter Hunter and Ruth Martin Hunter.

Jane was born in Elkhart, Indiana, graduated from Kenmore, NY High School and was a 1948 graduate of Kalamazoo College in Michigan.  She taught High School in Dowagiac, Michigan and Mannsville, New York, and retired in 1986 from Webster Central School where she taught elementary grades.

Jane enjoyed the family cottage at Lake Bonaparte, camping trips and going on vacations to western U.S., Canada and Europe.  She was a long-term member of West Webster Methodist Church and later a long-term and very active member of Webster Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder, chaired and was a Member of the Mission Committee for many years, was a Sunday School Teacher, a Board Member of the William Warfield Scholarship Fund, and for two years, a teacher at Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY. In late 2015, she and Dave moved to Chapel Oaks, a retirement community in Rochester (regretfully leaving their neighborhood in Webster).   Jane later resided at St Ann’s Community.  She will be very much missed by her loving family and friends.

Friends may visit 10-11 AM Saturday, February 25 at Webster Presbyterian Church, 550 Webster Rd., Webster, NY 14580, where her Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM.  Luncheon following at the church.

Contributions may be made to the Webster Presbyterian Church Mission Committee, Red Bird Mission, Beverly, KY 40913, or Kalamazoo College at Kalamazoo, MI., 49006.
