Obituary of Barbara Eileen Bartlow

Barbara Bartlow was born February 22, 1947 in Waverly, NY and died August 5, 2022 in Amherst, NY. She was the fifth oif seven children of Keith F. Bartlow and Martha C. Rowland Bartlow. She graduated from Kendall Central School and the University at Buffalo. For most of her working life she was a computer programmer, developing software for business applications. She worked for several companies and had her own consulting business. She was predeceased by brothers James and Lawrence and by sister Carolyn. She is survived by brothers Thomas, Alan, and Rodney, and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family was very important to Barbara. She worked hard to keep in touch not just with her siblings but also with a large collection of aunts and cousins. One of her projects was talking with grandparents, aunts, and uncles to collect family stories and compile a family genealogy. She generously shared her family knowledge with anyone who expressed an interest, updating family trees and stories and imparting to the next generation the importance of family history.

Barbara had many dogs over her life and loved them as members of the family—when one dog would die, she would quickly find another, often taking in dogs who needed additional time and care.

Barbara loved the outdoors and was active in outdoor sports, biking, sailing, skiing. She grew up in small towns or in the country and that was the setting she preferred. For several years she maintained a wooded rural property in Chatauqua County.  In recent years, she took great interest in gardening and growing food at her home in Cheektowaga.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 3^rd, at 11:00 A.M. at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Avenue, Webster.
