Obituary of Gerald 'Jerry' John Spexarth
Webster: Gerald ‘Jerry’ John Spexarth, age 62, passed away at Roswell Park Cancer Center under hospice care on August 11, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia and we are heartbroken to see him go. He is survived by his very loving wife, Donna (Gumble) Spexarth of 35 years.
He is the son of Patricia and Frank Spexarth, of Freehold, NJ. He is survived by his five siblings, Frank (Nina) Spexarth, Robert Spexarth, Mary (Michael) Brach, Donald (Randi) Spexarth, and Susan (Robert) Delucia. He will be greatly missed by over 30 nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and a cherished circle of friends, neighbors, and coworkers, and as ever, an extended family.
Jerry was born in Cleveland, OH, and grew up in New Jersey where he graduated with a business degree from Rutgers University. He worked for several aftermarket auto part sales companies throughout his career in northeast US until his illness. Jerry was an avid golfer, but second to that was his passion for classic convertible muscle cars. As he never found that perfect car, he designed, and had manufactured, his one of a kind Dodge Challenger convertible. He was the typical fun uncle be it teaching nieces and nephews how to fish during Adirondack vacations, cheering them on at ball games, controlling littles ones at Christmas as the official Santa Claus, or just the ‘big guy’ equally comfortable as their jungle gym or ready to show them how to win at board games. Give no quarter!
Thank you cherished friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members who we are truly blessed with and who gave us peace of mind during this challenging time. He always lived by the cornerstone words - faith, family, friends, and fun.
I want to acknowledge the teams at Rochester General Hospital, Lipson Cancer Center, and Roswell Cancer Center for their devoted and relentless care throughout his journey for which I will always be deeply grateful. Donations in his memory may be directed to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation at give.Roswellpark.org.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held in Hawley, Pennsylvania at a later date.
