Obituary of Edwin Causey Shriver

Shriver, Edwin Causey, Jr. Webster: age 89 died peacefully on 9/11/16. He was the husband for 49 years of Marjory Heisler Shriver; father of Christian (Michelle) and Derrick; granddaddy of Derrick's children, Simon, Eliza, Owen; brother of Barbara Inman of Hampton, VA. Born in Norfolk, VA, Ed served both active duty and reserves in the US Navy. He graduated from Virginia Tech. in 1950 with a degree in electrical engineering. Over his life he lived in many states including VA, NJ, CA, PA, and NY. His career included service at General Electric, General Dynamics and finally in Webster, NY with Xerox Corp. For over 20 years he enjoyed sailing his 31 foot sailboat "Xerxes" with his family while belonging to Pultnyeville Yacht Club, also co-founding the Xerox sailing club. His love of sailing led him to Webster schools where he shared his knowledge and experience by teaching adult sailing and navigation classes. He was Cub master for Webster Cub Scout pack 262, and was a friendly volunteer at the Webster polls on voting days. In recent years he devoted his time to his family. A service to celebrate Ed's life will be held at Webster Presbyterian Church, 550 Webster Rd., on Saturday September 25 at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Webster Presbyterian Church.
