All Seasons Safaris & Tours Kenya posted a condolence
Monday, May 3, 2021
My name is Alex Thuku owner of All Seasons Safaris & Tours Ltd Nairobi Kenya Africa. Joe Woody was referred to our company by one Laurena who is a regular adventure traveller to Kenya . So I met Joe in Oct 2015. My first impression was someone who was living the American dream. He was friendly to everyone he interacted with . He was particularly thrilled by the Masai's & their way of life . Even before it was over he hadn't had enough of Kenya & he was already planning a return trip by the time he started medication. Far thee well Joe Woody.

We are so saddened to hear of Joe’s passing. The Woody’s have been lifelong friends of our family. My father Tom, was a fellow Kodak Alumni and they served together for many years at Browncroft Community Church. I have fond memories of meals together at our respective family homes, times at Family Camp, picnics and other fun activities. Joe provided much needed financial advice and assistance to my parents over the years and was especially helpful when my father passed away in 2006. I have enjoyed seeing his beautiful photography on Facebook and my mom has a wonderful Cardinal picture in her home. My mother Trudy, and I, were so thankful to be able to view his memorial service today at my home in Newtown, CT. It especially touched my Mom and brought back many memories. I am reminded of how blessed we were to grow up when and where we did and how God so graciously provided for us to all enjoy the family that is Brighton/Browncroft Community Church. I suspect Joe and my Dad have had a chance to say hello in heaven. I am certain they have, as heaven has a special place for Faithful servants like Joe Woody.
Our prayer and condolences,
The Hampton Family, Trudy, Greg, Yolanda, Kelsey and Dominick.

Mr. Woody, in all of our interactions, proved to be a consistently polite, professional, humble, engaged, and wise individual. We shared a love of the great outdoors and I could tell he truly cared and loved his family. In our home, his amazing photography can be spotted in multiple rooms: the fox in winter diving into a hole is one of my favorites but there's also something special about that elegant loon. In truth, he reminded me a bit of my dear ol' dad who was also quite involved with our church. I wasn't surprised to discover, like my dad, he was a Navy ROTC guy. And in terms of our taxes, I felt safe and comfortable leaving the various numbers with Mr. Woody. As an uneducated potato, I have never been able to fully wrap my head around our nation's tax code; it seems to grow forever longer and more complicated. I was always pleased with Mr. Woody's results and explanations. Knowing Mr. Woody was an honor and a privilege; he's one of those people that is NOT replaceable and I will truly miss him. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Woody, Dana, Bruce, and the rest of his friends and family. - Peter Doerner

Although I have never met Joe, we become on line friends when he contacted me about traveling to Africa. He loved to share photos and keep me updated about his health. When I would return from a trip to Kenya, I'd share my digital photo book with him. I just finished my book from my January trip to Kenya and was about to share it and sadly learned of his passing. I will miss our 'conversations' and wit as well as his beautiful photos. RIP Joe. My thought are with his family. Laurena

I remember how supportive Joe was about the girls swimming. Even attending Masters swim meets at RIT. He set a beautiful example on how to be a loving, caring and supportive parent. Coach Lorie Rick

Joe was such a gentle soul who spent hours quietly paddling Lake Ozonia taking the most awesome pictures. He was missed last summer as he will be again this year but we know his spirit is still with us out on the lake.R

Joe was a friend and a neighbor at Lake Ozonia. I always enjoyed my conversations with Joe and Joanie. Joe and his kayak adventures and Joanie with the sound of her classical flute drifting gently over the hill will always be part of my Adirondack memories. As a child I will always remember heading out in the canoe to take advantage of the waves created by Joes light yellow decked I/O ski boat. The loss of a good person is never easy to comprehend, and if there is any saving grace, it reminds us that our time on this earth should be put to good use. I will miss him, but the person will live on through his deeds and photos, allowing us to see the world through his lens, thus, through his eyes.

I had the benefit of knowing Joe as part of my small group bible study. He always impressed me with his bible knowledge and wisdom.
He clearly was a generous caring man and the world is lessened with his loss. We know where he is, and my thoughts and prayers are for Joanie and his extended family.
God Bless
