Obituary of Charles W. Mitchell, Jr.

     West Webster:  Died unexpectedly at home on March 26th, 2021 at the age of 77.  Born April 21st, 1943 in Beaver, PA, a son of the late Charles W. Mitchell Sr. and Helen R. Mitchell, he had been a resident of Webster for more than 5 decades. 

 

     "Chuck", as he was known to most, served in the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Vietnam War where he was attached to an airborne medical unit. After his service in the military, he completed a degree in physics and a masters in business at the University of Rochester. He had a long and successful career at Xerox, where he met his wife of 53 years, participated in break-through research on liquid crystals, and coordinated logistics with affiliates in Latin America and the UK. Upon retiring, he continued to work for many years for companies such as Xelus and Lipinski hardware. He also volunteered for the West Webster Fire Department for many years and was named Firefighter of the Year for his work on launching their new computer system.  These are just a few of his many accomplishments throughout his life. He was best known for his sense of humor and being deeply devoted to his family. 

 

     Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Daniel T. Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mitchell of Webster; brother, Robert Mitchell of Beaver, PA; daughter, Kimberley Orr of Webster; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Ivana Mitchell of Plant City, FL and Dan and Krista Mitchell of Moretown, VT; grandchildren, Alexia Heidorn and her husband Jim Heidorn of Williamson, Mackenzie Fletcher of Webster, Felicia Mitchell of Plant City FL, Mallory and Jackson Mitchell of Moretown, VT, great-grandchildren, Jason Montgomery and Colton Heidorn of Williamson. 

 

     There will be no formal services. However, friends may, if they wish, make a contribution in his name to the West Webster Fire Department.
