Obituary of Barbara H. Achzet
WEBSTER/PENN YAN/ST. JOHN – Barbara (Herbst) Achzet, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, January 10 at the age of 92.
She was born in Rochester, NY on June 3, 1928 to the late Henry G. and Grace (Kasper) Herbst. Barbara was a loyal employee of Eastman Kodak Co., retiring with over 30 years of dedicated service. She most enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Barbara was involved with many organizations and clubs over the years, and most proud of her participation with Friends of St. John (VI) and the Webster Theatre Guild. Barbara will be remembered as someone who thoroughly enjoyed life, with a level of enthusiasm and energy, well short of her years.
Barbara was predeceased by best friend and beloved husband John Achzet of over 62 years; brother and sister in law, Donald H. and Diane Herbst; brother in law, James J. Achzet Sr. and nephew James J. Achzet, Jr.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Deborah Achzet-Downs (John), John N. Achzet (Jeanette), Stacy Wehner, Kelly Altman (David) and Jason Herbst. Also, great nieces and nephews Zachary Achzet, Sarah Callicuett (Rayford), Brian Smock, Kayla Smith (Zachary), David M. Altman (Erica), Jacob Altman, Emmett Herbst and Joshua Herbst, as well as several great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Memorial contributions in Barbara’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Friends are invited to her Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Friday, November 5 at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Rd., Webster.
