Obituary of Carolyn L. Bartlow

Webster: Born December 6, 1944, Carolyn was called home to the Lord on Friday December 11, 2020. Carolyn is predeceased by her parents, Keith, and Martha (Rowland); son, Ted; and her brothers, James and Larry. Survived by her sister, Barbara; her brothers, Tom (Michele), Rodney (Judy), and Alan (Angela); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Carolyn graduated from Kendall Central School, received her teaching degree from SUNY Geneseo, her Master of Education from the University of Illinois, and was a Kappa Delta Pi member. Carolyn dedicated her life as a special education teacher for over 30 years, teaching at Onondaga County BOCES, Holcomb Campus School at SUNY Geneseo, New York State Migrant Education Center, Mary Cariola Center, and Sodus Central School District. She also worked for many years at the Bayview YMCA.
Carolyn was a Presbyterian Deacon and a member of Webster Presbyterian Church. A lifelong learner, Carolyn, at the time of her death, was working toward a degree in theology at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School.
Carolyn was an advocate for many people and causes, most especially people with disabilities and those suffering with mental illness. She was a founding member of NAMI Rochester (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and served on the Rochester Psychiatric Center Board of Visitors.
In her free time Carolyn was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, loved playing Rummikub, and enjoyed crafting, painting, and making jewelry. She enjoyed meeting new people and learning new things and was active in several Facebook groups focusing on education and advocacy. She also loved exploring and sharing family history and mementos.

Carolyn's family would like to thank the staff at the Highlands at Brighton for the care she received during her final time with us.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 29th at 1:00 P.M. at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Avenue, Webster.
