Obituary of Anne Pollock
Webster: Age 90, she joined her Christian family and friends in Heaven on November 21, 2020, a reunion made possible by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was born January 28, 1930 in Rochester, NY, daughter of the late Edna Ethel and John Scofield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John (Jack) Pollock, sister Caroline (Leonard) Davis and grandson Corey Pollock.
Anne spent her early years in Hilton, NY until the family moved to Penfield, NY where she attended and later graduated from The Harley School in 1947. She then earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology at Ohio Wesleyan College in 1951. Anne went on to graduate from the University of Rochester in 1953 with her Master of Education degree, after which she taught fifth grade in the Rochester, and then Irondequoit, school districts.
Anne was a bowler, bridge player and an avid tennis player. She and her husband, Jack, were members of a four-couple group that played tennis regularly, got together for dinner monthly and spent a tennis-playing week in Florida for 25 years. She was an active member of Lake Avenue Baptist Church and then Webster Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School for children, was active in Stephen Ministry, jail ministry, and Women’s Circle. She was also involved in hospital visitation for twenty years and helped lead renewal ministry weekends. She was a very warm, caring individual with a great sense of humor. She spent the last few years of her life in Weirton, WV to be near family.
Our family would like to express deep gratitude to all of her many caregivers at The Wyngate for the past several years
She is survived by four children: Catherine Chase of Bloomfield, CT, Robert (Stephanie) Pollock of Sharpsburg, KY, Beth (Wayne) Lewis of Wintersville, OH, William (Shannon) Pollock of Tacoma, WA; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
