Obituary of Elaine Brooks
Gainesville, FL: 92, passed away on June 07, 2020 at Haven Hospice, Gainesville, FL. She was born to Herbert L. Haskell and Hazel K. Haskell on August 18, 1927 in Churchville, NY where she lived during her formative years. Her family moved to Rochester, NY where she lived from childhood to early adulthood. In 1959, Elaine and her husband moved to Lake Worth, FL where they resided until 2014. Elaine and her family were lifelong summer residents on Grindstone Island, Clayton, NY. She and her husband moved to Gainesville, FL in 2014 until 2020. Elaine received a Master of Library Science degree and was an educator for 41 years in Palm Beach county. She belonged to The Palm Beach, Florida Four Arts Society and she was an accomplished world traveler, enjoyed playing bridge and had a passion for reading. She is predeceased by her husband, Bruce E. Brooks of almost 73 years. She is survived by daughters, Janice B. McPhail (Dan McPhail), Gainesville, FL and Pamela B. Barton, Blairsville, GA. Three grandchildren, R. Brooks Bice (Brandy Bice), Gainesville, FL, Lindsey B. Bogacz, Rochester, NY and Kylie N. Barton, Tampa, FL. Four great grandchildren, Caleb Bogacz, Katelyn Bogacz, Brooklynn Bice, and Brylee Bice.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, Webster, NY, June 18, 2020 at 10:30 am followed by a graveside service at Whitehaven Memorial Park, Pittsford, NY at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Memory of Elaine H. Brooks to The Research and Heritage Center, Grindstone Island, 41591 Cross Island Rd/PO Box 6, Clayton, NY 13624.
