Obituary of Mary Ellen Vanderlee

Webster: On Saturday, February 15, 2020, age 92. Predeceased by her husband, Donald. She leaves her children, Philip (Elaine), Jacqueline (Thomas) Radigan, Charles, Cynthia (Steve Skidmore) Vanderlee; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Grace Vanderlee; many nieces & nephews. Mary Ellen was a beloved mother, grandma, GG, Triple G, Auntie, dear friend and 2nd mother to many. She taught us that family and friends should be our priority. She was a special lady to so many! There are more memories and special times than we can count. She met the love of her life, Don, while roller skating in Rochester. They were married 69 years and even after his death three and a half years ago, Mom insisted that Dad would visit her. Who are we to argue??? Mom lived life to the fullest. There was no adventure she wouldn't take. And every adventure was better when her family and friends were with her. She was in the roller derby in the mid 1940's, traveled extensively across the United States including extended trips to Alaska and Hawaii and traveled overseas on many occasions. She enjoyed time with her family on Honeoye Lake, water skiing, snow skiing, roller skating, ice skating, cards, cards and more cards (euchre), board games, walks with her beloved friend Ann, their motorhome, manhattan's, her pool, hosting parties, laundry and making her bed (LOL). You taught us to laugh, have fun, and the importance of taking care of others. Friends may call 2-5 PM Sunday, Feb 23, at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday, Feb 24 at St. Ann’s Chapel, 1500 Portland Ave. Rochester. Interment at Webster Union Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Webster Comfort Care Home.
