Obituary of Elaine Feith

Elaine Feith passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 19th, 2020 at 72 years of age. She was the first of 4 siblings born to Clyde William 'Bill' and Catherine 'Kitty' Tugend of Orchard Park, NY fame...close to the Buffalo Bills stadium, where you could hear the crowd cheering on football Sundays. The legendary Eighty Seven Harvard Place to be exact, where she shared the upstairs with younger siblings Shirley, William 'Bill', and Thomas. Being a Tugend from OP gives you the nickname 'Tuge', which was shared by all members of the household, including father Bill. The phone calls for 'Tuge' were particularly amusing. She met her future husband Harold 'Hal' at 19 and hasn't left his side since. She held a Master's Degree in teaching and was gifted in all things involving the English language, with a particular fondness for any skilled word games from Wheel of Fortune to Scrabble. She was quite the painter with a knack for painting happy little trees in the style of Bob Ross, and was also a certified beachcomber, hunting the shorelines for sea glass with Hal. She absolutely loved travelling and played a lot of tennis and a little golf in her more spry years. She and husband Hal did quite a bit of world traveling, with St Maarten being their all time favorite getaway...even after riding out a Cat 5 hurricane, the largest the island had ever seen. It was so bad they had to be emergency airlifted out in a Dutch Military Lockheed C5 Galaxy transport aircraft. What a story. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, and even a great-grandmother. She will be sorely missed by all she touched. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Hal; all three siblings; son, Rickey 5; granddaughters, Autumn and Jaime; great -granddaughter, Ani, and a handful of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, she requested any donations go to local, non-kill animal rescue shelters, where she and Hal volunteered many a weekend and also where they got their very own rescue dog, Peanut (pictured above), who was faithfully by her side until the bitter end. Instead of the typical funeral, Elaine wanted to have a celebration of life. A get together with family and friends will be held at Webster Park in the spring.
