Obituary of Lucille M. VanHall
Webster: Peacefully passed away at the age of 98 (and 10 months) on Friday, March 22nd. Born in Walworth, NY, Lucille is predeceased by her infant daughter, Audrey, and her husband of 64 years, John. She is survived by her children, Joyce (Keith) Sealover of PA and Tom (Cherilyn) of Fairport; grandchildren Kaitlin (Shaan) Mathur of WA, and Patrick VanHall of CA, step-grandson Craig (Renee) Lepiane; great-grandchildren Sloan and Maeve Mathur and Chase, Olivia and Liam Lepiane; brother Oakley Porrey of Webster; brother-in-law Don (June) VanHall of CO, many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
Lucille was raised on Midway Farm on the Walworth-Ontario Road as the middle child of the nine born to “Hattie” and John Porray. She met John VanHall at an “old-fashioned square dance” held at the Walworth Grange Hall and they were married at the Walworth Methodist Church in 1948. They built a house in the village of Webster, became members of the Webster Methodist Church and raised their family. Mom was commonly referred to simply as “Grandma” by all her grandchildren’s friends and neighbors. Lucille and John were inseparable and could be found attending every grandchild activity regardless of distance. After Mom retired from School Pictures Inc., and Dad retired from Eastman Kodak, they enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of St. Ann’s Cherry Ridge for all their caring, compassion, love and support during Lucille’s time there.
Friends may call on Friday, April 5th, between the hours of 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM at St. Ann’s Community Chapel at Cherry Ridge, 900 Cherry Ridge Blvd, Webster, NY where her Memorial Service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM. Interment at Marion Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Lucille’s memory to St. Ann’s Cherry Ridge, 920 Cherry Ridge Blvd, or to the United Methodist Church, 169 East Main Street. Both are in Webster, NY 14580.
