Mass of Christian Burial
Obituary of Brendan J. Hanna
Webster: The “strong, yet sensitive” Brendan passed peacefully in his home on Friday, September 7, 2018 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer four years prior. He was the best friend and true love to his wife, Kim Hanna, and the most devoted father to Tristan, Maura, Meghan (Joshua) & Sheila, and adoring Papa to Thomas. He is predeceased by his son, Tristan, mother, Mary Ann, brother, Colin and father-in-law Thomas Foley. He also leaves behind his father, Thomas Hanna; siblings, Becky (Paul, deceased), Meg, Kevin (Cristina), Siobhan (John), Sean (Marlene), Ciaran (Carolyn), Thomas (Karis); in-laws, Dolores Foley, Katy (Jeff), Kristen (Scott), Sheila, Steph (Bill), Bob; more nieces and nephews than he can count, and friends that were family.
Brendan loved a good story, especially one with a witty punch line. He adamantly championed his cause of giving St. Brendan the recognition for discovering America, to the mix of embarrassment and humor of his children. After being taught by his father, he continued sailing both competitively and for leisure with his father-in-law, passing on his love for the water to any who had the pleasure to sail with him.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday, September 11 at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Rd, Webster. A special thanks to all his caregivers and new friends at the Wilmot Cancer Center for their kindness and dedication—you helped him to live his life to the fullest right up until the end. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wilmot Cancer Center or the Tristan Foley Hanna Scholarship at St. John Fisher College.
