Obituary of Alyce B. McClain

Webster: Former resident of Greenpoint in Liverpool passed away peacefully Thursday, May 17 at age 91.  Alyce was predeceased by her loving husband Harry and granddaughter Alyse Timber. She spent most of her life in Webster, N.Y. where she raised her three children and taught 4th grade at State Rd. Elementary School for twenty years. She is survived by her daughter Nancy McClain Timber (Ralph) of West Sand Lake, son Robert B. McClain (Regina McClanahan) of Atlanta and son Martin McClain (Claire) of Syracuse.  Alyce’s grandchildren, Colin Timber of West Sand Lake, Harry, Ellen and Alyce McClain of Syracuse and great granddaughter Dakota Alyse Timber. Sue Ellen Kirschenheiter (Niece) of Liverpool, N.Y. was a special friend that spent countless hours with her. She was adored by many nieces, nephews and friends. She loved to laugh, loved to love and loved life.

     In 1943 Alyce graduated from Gouverneur High School and received a degree from Potsdam State Teachers College in 1948.  A longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, she also was affiliated with Sweet Adelines, Holy Trinity Church Choir, Webster Board of Education (1961-1964), and a tour guide/interpreter at Carter’s Grove Plantation at Colonial Williamsburg, VA.  Alyce also enjoyed many activities and participated in a variety of Choirs in Boynton Beach, FL and Syracuse, NY.

     Friends may call 4-7 PM Friday May 25th Willard H. Scott Funeral Home 12 South Ave. Webster.  Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Saturday at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Rd. Webster.  Interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association.
