Obituary of Joseph P Gable
Gable, Joseph P.
Webster: Died unexpectedly at his Park Avenue home on Fri., Nov. 6, 2015 at the age of 83. He leaves his loving wife of 57 years, Ann Korpita Gable, whom he met in Taylor, PA where they both grew up; 3 children, Doreen Kenney of Webster, Robert Gable of Cortland and Christine (Dan) Hewitt of Webster; 3 grandchildren, Melissa, Steven and Emily Kenney; 2 brothers, Edward of Seattle, WA and Clark of East Rochester; 2 sisters, Helen Matzan of East Rochester and Leona Juba of Taylor, PA; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, John and Helen; 4 brothers, Thomas, John, Albert and Leonard; sister, Eleanor Cebula.
Joe proudly served his country during the Korean conflict. Following his time with the US Air Force he joined the American Can Company in Fairport where he worked for 43 years. After a brief retirement from the "Can", he joined the US Postal Service where he worked 9 years in Irondequoit before retiring for good in 2001. Joe enjoyed watching sports, fixing things around the house and spending time with family and friends. He treasured the moments he spent with his grandchildren and was especially proud of all of their accomplishments.
His infectious smile and easiness about him earned him the unofficial title of "mayor" of Park Avenue where he could be seen throughout the neighborhood walking his favorite "grand-dog" Jake and striking up conversations with those he would meet on his way. He was loved and adored by his family and many friends and he will be greatly missed.
