Obituary of Peter Fiacre Hoysic
Hoysic, Peter Fiacre
Sodus: Tues., March 17, 2015, age 95. Peter was born April 16, 1919. WW II paratrooper, horticulturalist, nurseryman, fiddler. Son of Afton and Mary Metzgo Hoysic. Predeceased by wife & mother of children, Rose Mary Hetzler Hoysic, five brothers & fvie sisters, and recently, special brother-in-law Joseph Hetzler. He is survived by eight children, Theresa, Peter, Mary, Theodore, Martin, Janice, Luke (Cheryl) and daughter Nichole, Anne (Erich) Tausch. Peter also leaves his youngest and closest brother, William; several caring sisters- and brothers-in-law; and nearly 50 fun-loving nieces and nephews.
Our dad loved all kinds of music. He built and played the fiddle (aka Doodle-e-do Fiddler) with many groups. Dad’s sense of humor and playful nature remained with him all the way to the end. He gave his children the love of nature, gift of music, dance, laughter, and art. Aside from his love of plants and music, our Dad will be remembered most for his incredible quick wit, unpredictable comebacks, and kindred nature.
Many thanks to all of his family, long-time friends, musical and horticultural friends, and neighbors for the special part they played in Dad's life. Special thanks to Mary, his daughter, for her love and dedication in taking care of our father in his later years. Thanks to John and Joe Dady for inspiring Dad to play his fiddle one more time, bringing much joy to all.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY 14612 on Friday March 27 at 11:00 AM. There will be a gathering immediately following at the Church. No flowers...ironically. Donations may be made to Holy Cross Church on Dad's behalf.
