Obituary of Lorran Latham
Latham, Lorran (Lorrie)
PENFIELD: October 18, 2014. Age 98. Pre-deceased by: wife of 60 years, Esther Elizabeth (Payne); parents William and Grace (Sagar) Latham; sister Ethel and brother-in-law Harry Ashworth & niece Joan Ashworth (all of England); brother Bill and sister-in-law Marie Latham (Cortland, NY); cousin Connie & Jack Crawley (Canada); son-in-law Robert Ingay (Farmington, NY); and close family friend Joan Nash.
Survived by his loving family: son David B.; daughter Daryl A.E.(Robert) Ingay; granddaughter Shelly A.E.(Chris) Bullock; niece Doris (Rickie) Fawley (England); cousin Richard (Sallie) Phillipson (England); niece Kathleen (James) Meyer (N.J.); niece Linda (John) Helms & nephew Richard Latham (both of Cortland, NY); & many 2nd & 3rd-generation nieces and nephews in England, Canada, and America. Also, by family Dana & Vernon Mullen (Canada), close friends Eleanor (Paul) Humphrey (Spencerport), Jeanne (Roy) Krautwurst (Webster), Knud (Nico) Sorenson (Denmark), and other caring friends and neighbors.
Lorran studied design at RIT, graduated from Hochstein- and Eastman- Schools of music, taught violin at the University of Georgia, Statesboro, held chairs as violinist in the University of Rochester- and Penfield- symphonies, was a design engineer at Schlagel and Xerox for 30 years, an active, prolific poetry-society
member, and a multi-interest artist in a variety of media for many, many years. He was a life-long member of the Unitarian Church, as a youth in England, & after emigrating to America in 1927. Family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate his life in a memorial service, Saturday, November 29th, 2014, 1 PM, at the First Unitarian Church, 220 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY. A private interment service at Oakwood Cemetery, and a memorial in the Adirondacks, beloved by Esther and Lorran, will be held at later dates. Our deepest appreciation to the 8-1200- & Palliative Care- units at Strong Hospital, and to the Willard H. Scott Funeral Home in Webster, NY.
