Obituary of Edward Cay Doerner

Doerner, Edward C. "Ted" Doerner Webster: Died peacefully at home on Monday, January 26 at age 83. Ted was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean, and parents Edward and Helen Doerner of Painesville, Ohio. Survived by his 8 children; Ellen Della Penna, Warren (Nancy), John (Kathy), Nancy DeLaughter, Peter(Stephanie), George, Rhonda (Carlos) Maldonaldo, Rebecca Brown; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Allan (Beverly); sisters Norene Popely and Mary Ann (Lee) Jackopin. Ted grew up in Ohio. After graduating as a valedictorian, he attended Tufts on a ROTC scholarship and served 6 years with the US Navy. Ted worked as a physicist in the research labs at Eastman Kodak Co. and taught calculus at the Univ. of Rochester and Nazareth College. He was a member of Asbury First United Methodist Church for nearly 60 years. Ted was a proud member of the New Horizons Band Program. Ted's greatest joy was his family. He and his wife cared for over 15 foster children. Ted enjoyed his oboe, his pipe, his suspenders, and his friendships. His kindness, loyalty and wisdom will be missed. Friends are invited to his Memorial Service 6:00 PM Fri. at Asbury First United Methodist Church, 1050 East Ave., Rochester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Asbury First United Methodist Church (asburyfirst.org), Children Awaiting Parents (childrenawaitingparents.org), the Isaiah House (theisaiahhouse.org), or the charity of your choice.
