Mary Margaret Stephenson Crockett was a force to be reckoned with. She was a kind woman with a dazzling smile, a wry sense of humor and an insatiable passion for living.

Born in Michigan, a graduate of Michigan State University, and RIT, she settled in Webster, New York. Mary worked as a registered dietician for more than 35 years, specializing in renal care at Rochester General Hospital.

She was a woman on the go. Alongside her husband of 64 years, Chuck, they traveled by planes, trains, automobiles, elephants, camels and cruise ships to all seven continents, over 70 countries, and visited half of our national parks.

Mary lived a life of service. She was active at Webster Presbyterian Church, a King Circle member and sang in the choir. Through the church, Mary hosted college exchange students, taught Sunday school, volunteered for several work camps and went on four mission trips to Africa where she, Chuck and the church group helped to repurpose medical supplies and equipment for the Maasai & work to build schools for local children . Mary was also an active member of the American Dietetic Association, the National Kidney Foundation, a Girl Scout Leader and National Ski Patroller.

Music was one of her passions. Mary marched in the Michigan State Marching Band and was one of the founding members of the Webster Village Band, where she played her clarinet for 50 years. She made sure each of her seven grandchildren learned to play the piano, providing both the pianos and lessons.

Mary was the hostess with the mostest. An incredible chef and baker, she was legendary for her Sunday Dinners where there was always an open seat and all were welcome. Mary specialized in Sticky buns, Christmas cookies and garden grown dishes, especially the raspberry jam.

Mary taught her family many life long lessons that they’ll carry on for generations. Be kind to yourself, be kind to others, don’t sweat the small stuff, don’t take yourself too seriously and the best hello is a smile.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimers Foundation or the Kidney Foundation
