Lloyd Alfred Relyea, 93, of Webster, NY passed on February 13, 2026. He will be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Elaine; his daughter, Amy (Gregg) Kneipp; his grandchildren, Sean Relyea, Alex (Katherine Stein) and Brent Kneipp; his brother, Lewis (Laura) Relyea; sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, David and daughter-in-law, Paula (Cutler) Relyea; parents, Alfred and Catherine Relyea; in-laws, George and Helen Moore; his brother Edward Relyea; and niece Sharon (Relyea) Van Etten.
Born on June 12, 1932 in the family farmhouse in Tioga Center, NY, Lloyd attended elementary school in a one-room school house and graduated from Owego Free Academy (1951) where he participated in wrestling, football, track, and choir. Lloyd served four years in the Air Force Air Police and was stationed in the Philippines during the Korean War. After serving, he worked as a carpenter and at Agway, graduated from Broome Community College (1963) and then moved upstate to take a job with Xerox as a research engineer. He graduated from the University of Rochester in 1971.
Lloyd enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, RV touring, and reading. He was an avid sailor for 45 years at Pultneyville Mariners where he was affectionally known as “Grumpy”.
Family and friends are invited to remember him at calling hours at the Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Avenue, Webster, NY on Saturday, February 28th from 1-3 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
