Passed away January 20th, 2026, peacefully, surrounded by her family. Mary was battling Alzheimer’s Disease for several years.
Mary was born on July 14th, 1944. She grew up in Greece, N.Y. and graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1962. She and her husband, Herb, raised their family in Webster New York. She worked for a number of years as a jewelry manager and diamond consultant in Naum’s (later Ardan’s) in Webster. She later went into banking where she worked and retired from HSBC after twenty three years of service.
Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mary served her community in many different areas. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Church, Hope House, Women’s Club of Webster, TWIG, Webster Rotary Club and volunteered each year at the LPGA.
Mary loved to golf and spent many happy years golfing with “Dorie’s Dollies” at Webster Golf Club. She enjoyed entertaining and dining with good friends and family. Mary was a devoted grandmother who loved babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren. Vacationing each year to North Myrtle Beach and being near the ocean was one of her favorites as well.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Cannan; her brothers, William and Dennis Cannan; and sister, Patricia Santino. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Herb Gauch; daughters, Tracy (Thad) Brown, and Carrie Gribben; grandchildren, Mary Gribben, Allison Gribben, Madalyn Brown and Daniel Gribben; brother, Robert (Jonathan) Cannan; sisters, Kathy Seefried, Eileen (Brendan) O’Brien; many dear nieces and nephews along with many good friends.
The family is so very grateful for her aides, RRH nurses, and the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Shepherd Home.
Friends may call 2-5PM Sunday, January 25th, at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Avenue, Webster NY,. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Monday, January 26th, at St. Paul’s Church, 783 Hard Road, Webster, NY 14580. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Church or Shepherd Home, 1959 Five Mile Line, Penfield N.Y, 14526.
