Richard Neil Stacy Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Richard Neil Stacy, of Webster, New York, announces his peaceful passing on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the age of 98, in his home.

Born in Marietta, Ohio on December 24, 1926, Richard, or "Dick" as he liked to be called, served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 through 1946. Dick loved his small hometown of Marietta and would visit as often as possible to see family and friends.  He graduated from  The Ohio State University and began a lifelong career in education and music. While attending OSU, he also played in the Ohio State University Marching Band for several years.  As a woodwind player, he quickly had to learn to play the Piccolo Trumpet in the all brass band that he was so proud to serve in.  He was a dedicated music educator, teaching and directing several high school bands in Ohio, most notably the Medina Ohio High School Concert and Marching Band. He later earned his master's in administration from The Ohio State University and became a high school principal, serving at York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois, and retiring from West Irondequoit High School in New York in the late 1980s.  Dick was an avid Buckeye fan! One of his favorite things to do was to call a couple of his old friends that attended the University of Michigan and “rub it in” every time the Buckeye’s won the game against the Wolverines!

After retiring, Dick returned to his musical roots, directing various pop, jazz, and community bands in Monroe County. He formed his own band, with his musical partner Tom Fittipoldi called The Rhythm Aces, performing at senior living communities throughout the area. Music was the love of his life, and he loved seeing the smiles on people's faces as he entertained them with his gift.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Stacy; his daughter Martha A. Stacy; his parents Cecil and Effie Stacy; and his brother Thomas Stacy.

Dick is survived by his son Jeffrey Stacy and his wife Robin Stacy; his granddaughter Samantha Stacy; his sister-in-law Margaret Stacy; his niece Ellen Pishko and her husband Bob; his nephew William Stacy and his wife Deborah; and many great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 4-7 PM Thursday, December 11 at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard's memory to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515, an organization dear to his heart.
