Neil J. Rojek Obituary

      Neil J. Rojek, 93, of Webster, NY passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025. He was born to Anthony and Christine Rojek on September 16, 1932 in Salamanca, NY.  Neil is preceded in death by his parents along with his brother Eugene Rojek of Palm Springs, CA.


 


      Neil is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley Rojek. They married at Holy Cross RC Church in Salamanca, NY on June 27, 1959. He is also survived by his son Jay Rojek (Julie) of Lexington, SC and daughter Janet Prentice (James) of Walworth, NY, as well as his brother Jerry Rojek (Kathy) of Athens, GA, brother-in-law Eugene Puvel (Mickey), and sister-in-law Lorraine Prusinowski. Neil has four grandchildren Jenna Rojek (Dan), Jayme Southwick (Jamie), and Matthew and Michael Prentice, along with a great-granddaughter Emersyn Jay Southwick. He leaves many other family members and friends where he created life-long impressions and could always make others laugh under any circumstances.


 


     After graduating from Salamanca high school in 1950 where he was an outstanding baseball and football player, including a brief career as a semi-pro baseball pitcher, he volunteered for the US Army. He served two years in active combat during the Korean War where he was a forward observer. Neil was honorably discharged in 1954 then completed his BS degree in business from St Bonaventure University in 1958. Upon graduation he had successful careers at General Dynamics and Xerox Corporation in Rochester and Webster, NY, respectively. He retired from Xerox after a 22-year career in 1993.


 


     Neil was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Webster, NY where he ushered and was previously a religious instructor for teenage parishioners. He also volunteered as a coach and referee supporting youth sports in the Webster area. Neil had a passion for golf, fishing, Polka dancing, his accordion, and all opportunities to spend time with his beloved family. He was an avid and life-long fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Buffalo Bills, including attending Super Bowl XXVI in Minneapolis, Minnesota.


 


     Affectionately known for his strong faith, kindness, and sense of humor, Neil’s smile and personality made an impression that touched everyone’s heart. He quickly adopted the motto “Be Good, Do Good, God Bless, and Go Bills!”


 


     A mass and celebration of life will be held 10:00 AM Friday, October 24 at St Paul’s Church, 783 Hard Rd in Webster. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Honor Flight of Rochester at www.honorflightrochester.org that recognizes the heroes and veterans of all branches of the military or St. Paul’s Church at https://www.stpaulsrcc.org/
