JoAnn Mooney, 78, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Webster, NY.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, JoAnn was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Sarafin. She graduated from the University of Detroit, where she met her late husband, Tom, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and adventure. JoAnn later earned her master's degree in education from Nazareth University.

A dedicated educator, JoAnn began her teaching career in the Penfield School District. She then devoted herself to raising her sons before returning to teach in the Fairport School District.

JoAnn and Tom's shared love of exploration took them around the world, with memorable chapters of their lives spent in Tokyo, Japan, and Palo Alto, California, before they settled back home in Webster.

JoAnn is survived by her sons, Tim and Kevin, and her grandson, Connor.

Friends may visit 9:00-9:45 AM at St. Rita’s Church, 1008 Maple Dr., Webster, where her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lollypop Farm in JoAnn's memory.
