Ontario, NY: Susanne C. "Sue" Kendig, 92, passed away peacefully in her home on July 27, 2025. She was born on October 10, 1932 to Richard and Edith DeVries.
Sue married the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) W. Kendig on May 29, 1954. They had 4 children and resided for most of their 52-year marriage in Webster, New York.
Sue was loved by all and she loved without question. She was a positive force who always had the most wonderful smile. She appreciated everyone and all that they did for her. She was her grandchildren’s confidant and an expert at keeping their secrets. She was always available to provide genuine insight and unwavering support. Her life revolved around her family. Sue had a wide circle of close friends for over 85 years, a testament to her loving nature.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, her brother, Raymond, and sister-in-law Eileen DeVries and dear friend Brenda Forster. She is survived by her 4 children, Tom (Karen) Kendig, Steven (Janet) Kendig, Gail (Joe) Steffen and Wendy (Gerry) Freida; her 13 grandchildren, Robert Kendig, Megan (Stephen) Roarke, Wesley (William) Lynch, Michael (Lauren) Love, Kalyn Kendig, Colton Kendig, Lyndsey Conolly, Amanda (Tristan) Reynolds, Adeline (Michael) Solomon, Vincent Steffen, Jacob (Yamaris) Freida, Celia (Justin) Freida, Tanner (Cortni) Freida, and 12 very loved great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her loving aide, Evelyn Sawyer, who helped us all through the last few months. Also, a special thanks to Michelle, in the palliative care unit at Highland. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date.
