Frank V. Lovecchio Obituary

Webster:  Tuesday, July 22, 2025, age 82.  Frank is survived by his children, Katherine (William), Robert (Kenda) and Steven (Wendy), and grandchildren, Benjamin, Mia and Kai.

Frank received his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Syracuse University in 1970.  He met his future wife Karen while they were both graduate students.  He performed his Post Doctoral studies at Ohio State University in Electron Transfer Studies of Macrocyclic Molecules.  Shortly after graduation he started work at Eastman Kodak as a Research Scientist, where he obtained two patents, one for highly stable image dyes and one for OLED devices.  After receiving an MBA from the Rochester Simon School of Business, he went on to become Division Director of Corporate Research Laboratories at Eastman Kodak.

Frank was a lifelong learner and was fascinated by many topics in which he whole-heartedly dove into after retirement: Quantum mechanics, the chemistry of nutrition, DNA, and AI in the world of science, to name a few.  He was part of a hands-on volunteer elementary science teaching group around the Rochester area for 20 years, where he engaged budding scientists with enriching experiments at various elementary schools.  Frank and his wife Karen traveled extensively around the United States, Europe, and South America in their retirement.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Frank left his mark on the world through his enriching relationships with his family and friends.  He enjoyed visiting his children and their families and keeping up with his grandchildren.  Insatiably curious, full of wonder, loving, and caring, he will be missed.
