Ruth was born in Penn Yan, NY, the only child of Florence and Howard Petersen. Professionally, Ruth was a passionate physical education and health teacher at Sodus Central School, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year, a reflection of her commitment to students and love of learning. In her early married years with Andy, the couple owned and operated Andy’s Inn and the Andridge House in Sodus, NY. Ruth found joy in many things: she had a talent for basket-making, a deep appreciation for antiques, and a green thumb that made her gardens bloom. She was a loyal friend, a lover of birds and nature, and an enthusiastic traveler. Her greatest joy was found in her family; gathering them around her table for home cooked meals, holiday celebrations, harvest feasts in the fall, and her home in Englewood, Florida during the winter months.
