Obituary of Joan Nicholson Liljenquist
Our dear loving Mom, Joan Nicholson Liljenquist, passed into God’s hands on May 4 2025. She was born on July 31, 1927 in Avon, New York and moved to Webster in 1955. She was the best of moms. A kind, gentle, generous and always loving person who dearly loved her family and friends. She thought of other people’s needs and tried never to forget birthdays! A wonderful cook, she enjoyed preparing it as much as she enjoyed sharing what she made. She loved gardening and being outside. She enjoyed quilling and macrame and especially music and classical music (and never missed Lawrence Welk). She played the piano and loved singing. She was creative and knitted and crocheted many items, including afghans, for her children, Maureen, Beverly and Julianne (Steven Corgan); and grandchildren, Kaleigh (Michael Benedict) and Bradley Corgan. Besides her children and grandchildren, she leaves two wonderful great grandsons, Samuel and Noah Benedict, who she cherished and called her “munchkins”.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Elmer; sisters, Jeanette, Beverly, and Frances; brothers, D. Robert and Richard; and her mother and father, Ruth Neff Nicholson and Robert Nicholson.
She also leaves many nieces and nephews and faithful friends.
All will miss her love and warmth that she gave in quantity. A private celebration of her wonderful life will be scheduled at a later date.
Donations can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
